About the role

The Design Engineer role in our Product Care Team will work with various stakeholders, to investigate and implement projects to improve the quality of the manufactured products, to reduce the warranty service call rate and reduce direct material and direct labour costs.

What you’ll do

  • Electrical components will be the main focus of this role:
  • Design, develop and modify electric components and merge them to the mechanical assemblies.
  • Modify and work on unifying electrical harness wiring.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers, with the PCB changes/modifications, and supply them with the functional requirements needed, in order to fabricate and design for Electrolux, the most reliable and cost-effective electronic boards.
  • Utilize CAD system and study our products to specify electric projects and provide insights regarding cost saving ideas.
  • Understand and manage some of the cost savings projects, including mechanical and electrical projects.
  • Support product care team members in running projects and operational duties as required.
  • Construct and update bill of materials and engineering change notices.
  • Coordinate the prototyping, performance and quality verification, tooling quotation, part cost quotation, sourcing, production trialing and approval of components and finished assemblies.
  • Follow up and rectify problems found with components and assemblies.
  • Participate in failure mode and effects analysis.
  • Prepare timing plans and risk assessments, project management, progress tracking and the reporting of project status.

Key Capabilities

  • A sound understanding of quality assurance principles + electrical safety and knowledge of a wide variety of production processes
  • Knowledge of engineering change requests and engineering change notice systems
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering circuits and components (predominantly elements motors lights, metals and plastics)

Skills / Experience

  • Previous experience with wiring hardness, for consumer products, in a fast-paced environment
  • Competent in the use of CAD software
  • Proven previous achievements in cost control/saving projects
  • Previous experience dealing with PCB suppliers and boards schematic (PCB design competency a bonus)

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics 
  • Education in Project management highly advantageous

Location

You will be based in our Dudley Park, Adelaide manufacturing facility, within the Research and Development team.
