Role Overview:

The NRL is seeking an innovative and visionary Head of Technology to join our executive team. This pivotal role will be responsible for driving technological transformation and efficiency across the organization, with a particular focus on leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance operations, fan engagement, and overall performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technology leadership, a passion for sports, and a proven ability to implement cutting-edge solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the NRL's technology strategy, aligning it with the organization's overall goals and objectives.
  • Lead the transformation of the NRL’s technology operations to ensure efficiency, effectiveness across the rugby league ecosystem.
  • Drive the adoption of AI and other advanced technologies to improve operational efficiency, decision-making, and fan engagement.
  • Oversee the management and optimization of the NRL's IT infrastructure, ensuring robust, secure, and scalable systems and the right sized technology solution to meet the business needs.
  • Enhancing Cyber Security to address changes in the environment.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the technology team.
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify technology-driven opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Manage technology projects from conception through to delivery, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key technology partners and vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technology trends and best practices to ensure the NRL remains at the forefront of technological advancements in the sports industry.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing technology team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in technology leadership roles.
  • Proven experience in implementing AI and other advanced technologies to drive business transformation and efficiency.
  • Strong technical background with a deep understanding of IT infrastructure, software development, and data management.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully delivering complex technology projects.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for rugby league and a deep understanding of the sport's unique dynamics and challenges.
  • Demonstrated success in driving the business's commercial performance and meeting KPIs.
