As a result, we are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Channel Services team.

About the role

As an engineering manager, you play an important role as a technology leader across multiple engineering squads. You provide leadership, coaching, support and act as an enabler to the squads to balance technology, delivery and outcomes in alignment with the wider group’s objectives. You will not only deliver and execute the product roadmap, you will also run and maintain what has been built once delivered to production.

Some of your key accountabilities will be:

  • You will manage multiple squads of technologists that will collaborate to deliver projects/products that are aligned with Coles business objectives. 
  • You will help provide clear business requirements that translates into actionable items of work for the squads
  • You will promote agile methodologies and continuous improvements while coaching and supporting the squads
  • You will plan, create and execute delivery roadmaps that are structured based on actual business requirements, communicate and share these plans with your squads and stakeholders
  • You will implement the systems of work for your squads, agile ceremonies
  • Coordinate dependencies and sequence the Epics and Stories to ensure the teams ability to consistently deliver value in small increments
  • Own quality
  • Support and management of incidents and escalations
  • Definition and implementing of SLAs for different components and services
  • Quick, collaborative resolution of incidents
  • Investigate and root cause incidents and drive improvements and fixes

About you and your skills

Some of the things we are looking for:

  • Ideally at least 3 years’ experience leading highly skilled backend engineering teams and delivering large programs of work
  • Ideally at least 7 years’ experience in product development teams
  • Deep experience in high performance teams, with coaching to success using agile methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Experience working in complex system architectures, operations and support structures
  • Experience delivering outcomes as part of a cross-functional group, using onshore/offshore delivery model and with 3rd party vendors and integrators
  • Ideally exposure to .NET or Java
  • Ideally exposure to Azure or other cloud providers
