The opportunity:

The Senior Engineer Secondary Systems role is all about being a technical specialist in Secondary systems. The main goal is to provide Secondary Systems design services for Powerlink and offer technical guidance, advice, and support to team members and other Powerlink staff when needed.

Your key responsibilities include making sure all Secondary Systems designs meet Powerlink’s policies, standards, and practices, while sticking to project budgets and timelines.

Your role involves handling the Secondary Systems Design part throughout the project lifecycle, from scoping and estimation to post-commissioning, with a focus on Safety in Design.

Additionally, as the Senior Engineer you will lead the Secondary Systems team, including RPEQ approvals, coaching, teamwork, and training to keep high technical performance standards.

Furthermore, you will monitor designer output to ensure cost, time, and quality standards are met, work with internal designers and other design groups to achieve successful project outcomes and solve complex design problems. Your role will also involve planning and coordinating resources to ensure timely delivery and successful project outcomes, as well as staying up to date with Powerlink’s policies, standards, and practices. Consulting with Principal Engineers, Asset Strategies, and other stakeholders to ensure successful design, project, and business outcomes is also a key part of the role. Finally, as the Senior Engineer you will ensure all required documentation is prepared and quality management processes are followed, and perform the Owners’ Engineer role for outsourced projects

The people you'll join:

Based in Virginia, you will join our Design Solutions group within the Delivery and Technical Soultion division, reporting directly to the Team Leader Secondary Systems.

What you'll bring:

The successful candidate will require a degree-level qualification in Electrical Engineering and hold a RPEQ (or possibility to obtain)

  • You should have demonstrated technical leadership experience in developing professional design staff, who provide design and support services on large infrastructure projects.
  • Significant experience in an electrical infrastructure environment, preferably transmission, completing designs for HV and EHV associated secondary systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out and technically supervise the detailed design of secondary systems using both internal and external resources for approved projects.
