Senior Software Systems Engineer

 

Due to the ongoing growth in this area Queensland Rail are looking for applications from talented and well-rounded candidates within the role of Senior Software and Systems Engineer within our Operational Systems Engineering team.  This role will contribute to continuous improvements in the development and delivery of world-class capabilities with a focus on business and safety critical software and systems functions, specifically within Train Control Systems (TCS).

South-East Queensland’s (SEQ) public transport and rail network is going through an exciting significant transformation to change the way our public transport rail system will operate into the future.  
  
What you will bring: 

  • Experience in delivering projects involving system requirements, design, architecture, software development and integration with other systems both internal and external systems across diverse operational environments, such as Train Control, Real-Time, and Signalling systems..
  • Enthusiasm to be involved in all parts of the Software Development Lifecycle to support the development and maintenance of computer-based systems.
  • Hands on experience commissioning of new and upgraded systems and components.
  • Exceptional problem solving and troubleshooting skills. 
  • Experience and enjoyment for participating in technical discussions and coaching less experienced team members.
  • Ability to engage and effectively communicate with customers, stakeholders and vendors.
  • Help drive pragmatic decision making and trade-offs to meet both the team’s business objectives and long-term technical goals.
  • A test and learn mindset with curiosity, collaboration and care.

Predominately Microsoft based environment.

  • C# and C++
  • AMQP (Rabbit MQ)
  • .NET framework
  • PowerShell
  • SQL
  • Web Apps and Azure
  • Procedural programming languages
  • Schneider GeoSCADA and SCADAPack
  • Field stations including solar, cameras, and sensors

Qualifications: 
 
Applicants must hold a Bachelor Engineering – Electrical/Computer Science from an accredited Australian University or Queensland Rail accepted equivalent that is assessed and recognised by Engineers Australia, the national professional body for engineers in Australia.
