Victoria approves Mortlake wind farm
The Victorian Government has granted approval for the construction of Acciona’s new Mortlake South Wind Farm in the state’s south west.
The approval paves the way for Acciona to deliver the $200 million, 51-wind turbine project.
Managing Director of ACCIONA Energy Andrew Thomson said the Victorian Department of Planning and Community Development’s endorsement represents the final key planning approval required for the project.
"ACCIONA’s proposal represents approximately $200 million in investment that will bring many benefits to the local community in the Mortlake region, including up to 100 local construction jobs and approximately 10 permanent jobs on-site," Mr Thomson said.
"Significant investment in infrastructure such as this can generate enough clean, renewable energy to power up to 41,000 homes annually."
The full construction timeline for the wind farm has not yet been determined.
ACCIONA recently hosted open house consultations in Mortlake and the neighbouring towns of Terang and Noorat, as part of its work in consulting the local community and building strong relationships with landowners, neighbours and the broader community.
