Sydney Water has signed a $100 million Collaborative Services Agreement (CSA) with Schneider Electric and Thompson Controls for the upgrade of 33 water and wastewater treatment plants.

Managing Director Kevin Young says the agreement will upgrade existing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems operating at the plants.

“Previously, a number of service providers and contractors delivered work on these systems over Sydney Water’s service area,” Mr Young said.

”This is a new approach for Sydney Water to work with a single service provider to deliver all upgrade and maintenance work associated with the treatment plant SCADA systems.

“This agreement brings all maintenance work and resources together in one contract and means better overall coordination of the projects and greater efficiency.”

The Collaborative Services Team has already started work with transition to full support services by March 2013.

The contract is for a three-year period, with the option for Sydney Water to extend the contract for two more three-year terms.
