Parsons Brinckerhoff achieves A+ for sustainability report
Parsons Brinckerhoff’s Australia-Pacific operations have achieved an A+ rating for its third annual sustainability report.
Parsons Brinckerhoff Australia-Pacific Director of People and Corporate Sustainability Deborah Burt said the company continues to lead the infrastructure sector.
“Last year we were the first organisation of our kind to achieve an A+ rating in Australia with our 2009 report.
“This year, using the Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) Sustainability Reporting Guidelines for our sustainability report, we repeated this score.
“Parsons Brinckerhoff is a business that operates according to our values – we believe this has been the basis for strong growth.
“One of the major milestones over the past year was the launch of our Reconciliation Action Plan to strengthen our commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.
“During 2010 we also signed the CEO Statement of Support for the United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principles – another first for the engineering industry,” said Ms Burt.
Parsons Brinckerhoff’s sustainability goals for the coming year include:
- cutting carbon emissions by 20% compared to 2009 performance
- achieve a 7% improvement on our 2010 leadership effectiveness scores
- reducing our injury frequency rate by 20% compared to 2010 performance
Parsons Brinckerhoff’s sustainability report was externally verified by Net Balance, one of Australia’s leading sustainability advisory and assurance firms.
Net Balance Director Terence Jeyaretnam, said “Parsons Brinckerhoff is not only a sector leader in disclosing its sustainability performance given its A+ GRI rating, but goes further by having its report subject to independent verification.”
