Ord River expansion gets the nod
The Ord River irrigation expansion project has been greenlighted following an agreement between the Federal, Northern Territory and Western Australian Governments.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Governments covers the planned expansion of the $322 million project into the Northern Territory.
Territory Chief Minister Terry Mills says he is delighted with the partnership agreement.
"What we have here today is a clear example of governments working together to achieve something great," Mr Mills said.
The signing of the MoU comes after the Western Australian Government officially opened the 31 kilometre main irrigation channel, forming the centrepiece of the Ord expansion project at Kununurra.
