The Federal Government has announced that the National Broadband Network Co (NBN Co) has reached a final agreement for the volume rollout of fibre in South Australia and the Northern Territory.

NBN Co announced that Syntheo – a joint venture between Lend Lease and Service Stream – will undertake the SA and NT construction of the National Broadband Network.

"This is great news for South Australia and the Northern Territory. It means that construction of the NBN will soon ramp up to connect tens of thousands of households, schools and businesses across South Australia and the Northern Territory," Federal Minister for Finance and Deregulation, Senator Penny Wong, said.

The contract is worth approximately $141 million over an initial period of two years, with a potential value of up to $341 million if extended for a further two years.

Syntheo was awarded the contract for the fibre network construction in Western Australia in September this year.
