Laing O'Rourke wins $65 million stabling project
Engineering firm Laing O’Rourke has been contracted by Sydney’s CityRail to construct the new $65 million Auburn Stabling Project.
The project will see the construction of a new stabling facility for 11 eight-car suburban train sets and other facilities with an aim support the introduction of the South West Rail Link services in 2016.
The project’s aims are as follows:
- Allowing for an increase in the number of trains
- Reducing the distance empty trains need to travel to get to their starting and finishing destinations
- Providing an additional facility for trains to be stabled and made available for use on the network
- Assisting the on-time running of train services by allowing train to quickly enter the network.
