Brisbane’s Kurilpa Bridge has been named best Transport Project at the 2011 World Architecture Festival.

Designed by Cox Architecture, the bridge is the largest construction in the world to use tensegrity principles, which strikes a balance between compressive and tensile forces.

The bridge allows pedestrians and cyclists to cross the Brisbane River between the city’s arts precinct and central business district and contains a programmable LED lighting display powered by solar photovoltaic panels.
