Construction product designer Hyssil has launched a new range of lightweight geopolymer building products.

The products, co-designed with company founder CSIRO, are produced from fly ash waste from coal-fired power stations. The company is currently seeking partners to help accelerate the commercialisation and delivery of the product range.

Reported benefits of the products include:

  • Eligibility for carbon credits in both developed and developing countries
  • Lighter and stronger than conventional panels and tiles
  • Superior fire and chemical resistance
  • Improved thermal performance
  • Manufactured on conventional equipment

“Hyssil and the CSIRO are at the forefront of development of sustainable building products for global markets using Geopolymer technology, which substitutes fly ash for ordinary Portland cement," CEO Gary Bertuch said.

“Our target markets are Australia, New Zealand, US, Europe, China, South-East Asia and the Middle East.

“Ideally, we want to attract a development partner or partners that will contribute development capital and can provide access to large-scale manufacturing facilities."
