Decmil Group awarded $71M BHP contract
Civil engineering and construction company, Decmil Group Ltd has been awarded a $71 million contract by BHP Billiton Ltd to design and construct the Warrawandu Village, around 25 km east of Newman in WA’s Pilbara region.
The contract involves design and construction of the village, and includes the design, supply, installation, fit-out and commissioning of several industrial buildings including a bulk-storage building, facilities management maintenance workshop and waste management facility.
Work is due to start immediately and scheduled for completion in October 2012.
The contract follows a $55 million contract signed earlier this month with Fortescue Metals Group Ltd, to expand the Kamtama Village at FMG’s Christmas Creek project in the Pilbara. On completion, the Kamtama Village will have accommodation capacity for 1600 people.
