About the Role
We currently have two vacancies for Senior Lecturers within our Civil and Construction Engineering School.
This position is for a teaching and research academic to work within the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering, in the School of Engineering at Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia.
The successful candidates will undertake teaching and research activities in areas related to smart urban infrastructure and digital engineering including fields related to transport, construction or geotechnical engineering. The position would require a suitable candidate with experience in areas such as data analytics, machine learning, modelling, design, asset management, remote sensing or digital mapping. The focus application areas may include smart infrastructure including intelligent transport systems, construction, renewable energy infrastructure, and lifelines.
In teaching, the position will contribute to the programs of the Department at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The incumbent will also assume administrative tasks associated with normal teaching duties, including delivery, developing and supporting academic programs and working with the academic team in the development of program change and innovation. The position is also expected to mentor and support students on academic matters, and will also supervise Honours, and Masters by Coursework students.
About You
- To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- Undertake position of responsibility related to academic quality within the School (e.g. Committee Chairs, Discipline leaders) as required
- Actively lead academic program development, unit development and the management activities of the Department and the School
- Mentor, train and manage the performance of the teaching team when convening a unit of study
- Actively contribute to the School’s industry-engaged learning programs
- Engage in professional development
- Support and maintain a high quality and productive academic environment for staff and students in the context of the Swinburne Values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, Diversity, Teamwork and Sustainability
Qualifications
- Doctoral qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Member of relevant professional society
