Samsung's new digs cost a lazy $16 billion
Tech giant Samsung will spend about $16.7 billion on a huge new facility in South Korea.
The world's largest memory chip maker is looking for an upgrade, pouring an incredible amount into the project to build its new semiconductor factory.
Samsung says the construction of the facility in the city of Pyeongtaek will begin next year and be completed by the second half of 2017.
The company says it can produce memory or logic chips at the new site, but details such as expected production capacity.
The chip business is one of the darlings of the company, which has seen a drop in market share for its leading smartphone business.
Tech companies are known for their intriguing and bizarre office space designs, though mega-factories such as the one announced by Samsung still tend to be light on design elements.
