Healthy patch could put pricks in the past
A biomedical engineer from the University of Queensland has taken his invention to the birthplace of its ancestors.
Professor Mark Kendall has delivered an address detailing what could be the future of vaccine delivery and mass-medication technologies – the nanopatch.
One interesting point about the talk was its location, hosted in Edinburgh near where Scottish physician Alexander Wood first developed a syringe with a needle fine enough to pierce the skin in 1853.
Prof Kendall’s development might be the biggest step forward since the invention of the syringe, changing the game with his needle-free drug delivery system.
The talk he gave has now been made available online, as part of the excellent and educational TED Talks series.
